Position: Gallery Manager
Position Description:The Gallery Manager will oversee two exhibition spaces and the Sale Gallery at Bank of the Arts, with 20+ rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The Gallery Manager is responsible for inventories, contracts, sales, handling, hanging, and other aspects related to exhibitions and artwork in the gallery, and the general upkeep of the facilities. The Gallery Manager will also work with other staff and volunteers on specific programs and fundraisers throughout the year, and work with local organizations and events to promote CACG’s involvement in the community.
This position is 35-40 hours a week, Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-5pm, with some nights (1-3 per month).
ResponsibilitiesThe Gallery Manager will be responsible for many aspects of the Craven Arts Council & Gallery and the Bank of the Arts building, detailed below.
  • Organize and oversee the hanging and removing of shows/exhibits
  • Confer with Executive Director in planning future shows and communicate with artists to ensure pertinent drop off and pick up schedule
  • Greet and assist customers who enter the gallery and answer telephone when possible
  • Assist in in setup and take down for facility rentals and functions
  • Maintain accurate records concerning accession and deaccession of artwork and inventory
  • Receive merchandise, process artist purchase orders, produce barcode labeling, display tags and artists bios
  • Maintain and update as necessary the point-of-sale software
  • Prepare day end reports and semi-monthly payout statements, of whenever requested
  • Regularly clean and periodically rearrange the Sales Gallery
  • Employ safety procedure methods to maintain security when handling credit card numbers
  • Create and order printing of monthly ArtWalk cards and oversee the distribution to proper outlets/businesses.
  • Create additional publicity materials and press releases to disseminate on social media, Constant Contact, and additional media outlets to ensure adequate and timely exposure of events
  • Photograph events and shows and post on website, social media
  • Maintain online presence is kept up to date and accurate
  • Create and sustain relationships with local groups and vendors
  • Assist other staff with projects and programs as needed

Compensation:This role is currently listed for $15-18 per hour, full time. Additional benefits include 6 paid holidays per year, 18 days of PTO, and a 3% matching SIMPLE IRA, after 6 months of employment.
