The Gods at Mardi Gras
The Gods at Mardi Gras is an original watercolor series created by internationally awarded artist Karen Noll Schaaf. Join us this December as Schaaf unveils her year-long project, The Gods at Mardi Gras, in the Director’s Gallery at the Bank of the Arts in New Bern, North Carolina.
The Gods at Mardi Gras is a series of ten unique watercolor works painted on Aquabord, a clay surface that replicates the fresco technique used by artists such as Michelangelo and Raphael during the Italian Renaissance period, from the late 13th to mid-16th centuries. Her work is currently showcased in Splash 25: The Best of Watercolor, a special issue of Artists Magazine recognizing the world’s best watercolor artists.
The opening reception at the Bank of the Arts will be on December 13th at Artwalk from 5 – 8 pm. The Craven Arts Council & Gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.
