December Director's Gallery - Gary Nemcosky
Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to present the works of local watercolor artist Gary Nemcosky for the month of December.
This exhibition will feature Nemcosky’s vibrant watercolor portraits, based off of photographs he captures. An opening reception for this exhibition will be held at Artwalk on Friday, December 12th, 5 - 8 pm.
Gary Nemcosky is an artist and retired art educator from southeast Virginia. After a stint in the United States Air Force, he attended West Virginia University, learning from Tom Nakashima and Dave Faber. Nemcosky then studied under Paul Hartley, Clarence Morgan and Ed Reep at East Carolina University and then took time for post graduate Art History at the University of Cincinnati for 2 years. He taught in the Art Department at Appalachian State University from 1989 through 2020. For the past 15 years, Nemcoksy has focused exclusively on watercolor, often portraying portraits of local residents of New Bern and more. He currently resides in Trent Woods, North Carolina, with his wife and daughter, Ann and Hannah, and dog, Quincy.
