Figure Drawing Sessions at Bank of the Arts

Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to host Figure Drawing Drop In Session, hosted by local artist Courtney Durocher. These low-cost sessions will offer artists the opportunity to sketch, paint or create from poses by a live, semi-clothed model.
Figure drawing builds fundamental drawing skills, observational ability, and understanding of movement, gesture, and the human form. Sessions start with 1–5 minute poses for quick, gestural sketches, extending to longer poses for more detailed study and works. These provide practice for the artist, and can be the foundation for later works. Sessions will be led by Courtney Durocher, a local artist with experience in physical and digital media, specializing in illustration and comics. Durocher will provide instruction and feedback to upon request, and lead sessions. The sessions are open to all artists and mediums. Craven Arts Council is offering summer sessions on October 14, October 28, November 11, December 9 (the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, some exceptions. Please note we will not being Figure Drawing on November 25th or December 23rd, due to the holiday season). The cost will be $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers of Craven Arts Council & Gallery. Artists will pay at the door and registration is not required. Artists should bring their own materials, paper, easels, and other tools, though some easels will be available for use. |
