Craven Artist Relief Fund
In 2018, Craven County and the surrounding areas were affected by Hurricane Florence, which caused an estimated $24.2 billion dollars in damage, 54 fatalities, and the loss of more than 4000 homes and businesses, including artists' studios, workspaces, and homes. In the following year, Craven Arts Council & Gallery created the Craven Artist Relief Fund, to support artists affect by natural disasters in our area in the future. The goal of this fund is to help artists reestablish their lives, and their artistic practice.
Initial funding for this program came from the 2019 exhibition Safe from the Storm: Memories of Florence, featuring artwork, poetry, and writing about the storm and its affects. The fund continues to grow and be supported by generous donations by the public. Please use the form below to contribute to our Craven Artist Relief Fund. |

Hurricane Helene
In September 2024, Hurricane Helene devastated much of western North Carolina, causing massive flooding and destruction. In response, Craven Arts Council & Gallery has designated 50% of our current Craven Artist Relief Fund to donated to the North Carolina Arts Foundation's NC Arts Disaster Relief Fund, to support artists and arts organizations affected by Hurricane Helene. In addition, all donations made to the Craven Artist Relief Fund between October 1, 2024, and December 13, 2024, will be split 50/50 with the NC Arts Disaster Relief Fund. Please use the form below to make a contribution to the fund, and use the buttons for helpful links regarding direct donations and other resources. Our community is all too aware of the devastating effect a natural disaster like a hurricane can have on a community, and lack of support and funding for artists to return to their practice. In this way, CAC&G hopes to help support our fellow artists, arts organizations, and communities in North Carolina, while maintaining the stability and availability of funds for future efforts.
