Chris Morgan

1)What one word would you use to describe the feeling the work evokes?
Timelessness.

2)What one question would you ask the viewer?
Do you recognize the characteristics of the river portrayed in each sculpture?
(Hint: Meanings of river names are as follows:
Gihon: to burst forth/ Pishon: to spring forth or spread about/ Tigris: rapidly flowing river; Euphrates: fruitfulness/abundance)

3)How has this body of work affected you?
These sculptures are female personifications or Goddesses of the four rivers that originated in the presumed geographic location of the Garden of Eden. As rivers have been life waters throughout time, so have women provided life and nurturance.
Each figurative work personifies characteristics based on the meaning of the name of the river.
This body of work speaks to the unending gifts of our Earth and of women.
