Kentucky native Carolyn Sleeper graduated from Morehead State University as a fine arts major, but it wasn’t until much later in life that she developed a passion for collage, wire, and pottery. Her art teaching career was spent mostly at Norfolk Collegiate School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she taught primary, middle, and secondary levels. She loves how clay mirrors images and textures and the way it can appear deceptively soft, yet be brick-hard. Most of her pottery is functional, oxidation-fired in an electric kiln (unless otherwise noted), and is safe for dishwasher and food. Sleeper now lives in Washington, North Carolina.
