Quincey Jones

​Pianist, Quincey Jones, graduated from ECU with Bachelors in Music Performance in 2015. As a local musician from Greenville NC, he has had the opportunity to play professionally with many artist throughout Craven and Pitt County. He has also played countless times with a multitude of bands and plays various styles of music including R&B, jazz, soul, pop, rock, and rock in local restaurants and music venues. Quincy also teach private piano lessons as well.

Billy Strayhorn

Known famously for his collaboration with jazz musician Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn was introduced to music in his youth by his grandmother in Hillsborough, North Carolina, where his family originated. As he moved to Pittsburgh shortly after the age of five, Strayhorn visited often and claimed North Carolina as a primary influence on the first decade of his life. In Pittsburgh he took piano lessons and several odd jobs to earn enough money to buy his first piano. In his early twenties, Strayhorn met Duke Ellington at an impromptu backstage audition and the duo worked closely together for nearly 3 decades until his untimely passing of cancer in 1967. Known for writing hit songs such as “Take the A Train”, “Lush Life”, and “Satin Doll”, Bill Strayhorn was a Grammy award-winning musician who became so intertwined to Duke Ellington’s style, neither of them could tell the two apart.

At the Gallery : Jerry Garcia performed by The Bonafides

 March 29th, 2025 at 7 pm

​This November, The Bank of the Arts will host music by rock legend and former member of “Grateful Dead”, Jerry Garcia. Known for his eclectic musical career and guitar talents, Jerry Garcia was infamous for his creative and improvisational abilities. Garcia was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Jerry Garcia

Born and raised in San Francisco, Jerome “Jerry” Garcia was a musical prodigy of the 1960s. Receiving his first guitar at 15 years old, Jerry was introduced to open-tuning style by his step-father, and three years later, began his music career by performing with local artists of the Bay area. Known as a principal songwriter, lead guitarist and vocalist for both Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band, Garcia’s electric and often improvised guitar riffs enchanted both crowds and industry peers. Garcia experimented with folk, bluegrass, electronic music, old-timey ballads, country, and reggae throughout his 30 year career.

Some of Jerry’s famous songs include “Sugaree”, “Uncle John’s Band”, and “It Must Have Been the Roses”.

The Bonafides

The Bonafides are made up of a group of friends based out of New Bern, North Carolina. With acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bass, drums, banjo, and more, their musical tastes range far and wide. All nine members of the Bonafides possess a unique set of skills and instruments that they bring to every performance.

James Croce
​Known for his folk and rock music, James (Jim) Croce was a musical artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, inspiring modern artists such as Dolly Parton and the Wu-Tang Clan. Croce’s music career origins can be traced back to touring Africa and the Middle East as a part of a foreign exchange tour. Releasing a total of five studio albums during his lifetime, he was most known for his two No.1 singles, “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” and “Time in a Bottle”.

Harry Chapin
New York native Harry Chapin was a folk and pop rock artist, popularizing the story-song style. As he began focusing on music following a short career in documentary filmmaking, Chapin soon entered the music industry and becoming signed to Elektra Records with Clive Davis. Chapin is a Grammy Award Winning artist, and is most known for his hit songs “Taxi” and “Cats in the Cradle”. 
PictureKen Kennedy
 A native of North Carolina and resident of High Point, Ken Kennedy has spent his lifetime singing and playing music. As the vocalist for Piedmont Airlines, he consistently amazed audiences throughout the world in his engagements at the Grand Casino, Deauville, and Paris, Frankfurt as well as most major US cities. He was the featured vocalist in the “Down Home with the Carolina Pops” tour with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. Kennedy has performed several concerts at the Bank of the Arts, including music by Van Morrison and Jimmy Buffet.

Boomerang

One of the most critically acclaimed groups of all time, The Beach Boys are an American rock band formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. The original group consisted of Mike Love, Al Jardine, and brothers Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson. After signing with Capitol Records in 1962, the group launched into worldwide success following the release of their debut album, “Surfin’ Safari”. The Beach Boys provided fans around the world with a musical experience of love, youthful exuberance, and Californian surf culture. ​Ranked No.12 on Rolling Stone’s list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”, their most notable songs include “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, “Good Vibrations” and “You’re so Good to Me”.
Boomerang is a local group from New Bern, NC, made up of multi-instrumentalists Epy, Mike and Tom, as they bring their 3-part harmonies together in this spirited trio. The mainstay of the band is the re-creation of the great music hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s.  Each song presentation is immediately recognizable by their audiences. With live and accompanying instrumentation arrangements performed by Epy, Mike and Tom, Boomerang’s performances have thrilled many audiences in the New Bern music scene.
