Kris Kristofferson was an award-winning country musician and Hollywood
actor best known for pioneering the 1970s outlaw country movement. In
1965, he moved to Nashville to pursue music, starting as a songwriter for
4 years before his career began took off with his hit song “Sunday Mornin’
Comin’ Down” performed by Johnny Cash. Kristofferson often composed
his music using the Shakespearean iambic pentameter and wrote social
progressive lyrics throughout his career, with his most notable songs
including “For the Good Times”, “Help Me Make It Through the Night” and
more fan favorites!

Jon Shain is a veteran singer-songwriter based out of Durham, NC,
combining improvised piedmont blues with bluegrass, folk, swing, and
ragtime. Shain has been performing and expanding his skillset for over 30
years and we are thrilled to have him return to perform at Bank of the Arts
following his W.C. Handy performance in 2018!
