About the Craven Arts Festival
Interactive SculptureDuring the Festival, a sculpture will be created comprised entirely of materials contributed by the community. With a specific theme in mind, the community at large will be asked to bring one or more items to the Festival and, with the help of local artists and volunteers, place those items to create the sculpture. Festival attendees of all ages will not only be able to observe the process but take part and be named as a contributing artist to the piece.
Community SculptureDuring the two days of the Festival, a community sculpture will be constructed using post-consumer products. Festival attendees will be able to observe the entire process. After the Festival, it will be placed in the Sculpture Park at the corner of Middle and Broad Streets for the community to enjoy.
Art TherapyArt therapy uses the creative process of art to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people with a wide variety of issues, including reducing stress and increasing self-esteem.
During the two-day Festival, we will have an area set up specifically for adults to experience the joys of art. People will enjoy the opportunity to create a personal and unique work of art that can be shared with others for years to come. |
