ArtZone 2012 in New Bern

We would like to thank everyone who participated in ArtZone 2012.

Galleries, restaurants and retailers in the downtown area hosted unique art exhibits and experiences during Mumfest.
Visitors were encouraged to engage the artists, take pleasure in their creativity in the varied mediums, buy or commission an original piece of artwork or just take the time in the different venues to expand their experience at Mumfest October 12 to 14, 2012.
Beautiful small towns are a magnet for artists and artisans who find inspiration for their work and a relaxed and friendly environment in which to create it. Each year New Bern, an historic town at the confluence of the Trent and Neuse rivers, beckons new artists working in a variety of mediums. Potters, oil and watercolor painters, sculptors, jewelry makers and more have created a rich and increasingly sophisticated artistic community. Musicians, writers and the dramatic arts have complemented and further enhanced the environment.

Our downtown now has many galleries and art studios, live music, active local theatres, festivals and special events year round. Several years of juried sculpture shows sponsored by the Craven Arts Council & Gallery have resulted in a wonderful and diverse collection of outdoor public art as well. The black bear, our “mascot” which derives from our association with Bern, Switzerland, can be seen all around town in different forms.

Visitors and community members are invited to stroll through arts-related venues, previewing new exhibits and enjoying music entertainment and art experiences.
